Pictures to display from Mexico, Italy, China and France.
Instructions
Echo-speak "hello" in each language. Hold up pictures from each country. Some sample pictures may include:
Hola from Mexico: jaguars, parrots, tortillas, guacamole, pinata, mariachi band, and Chichen Itza (the famous Mayan ruins are one of the seven wonders of the modern world).
Ciao from Italy: gondolas, pizza, gelato, soccer, map (shaped like a boot), Leaning Tower of Pisa, and the Colosseum of Ancient Rome (the famous amphitheater is one of the seven wonders of the modern world).
Ni hao from China: Giant Pandas, Chinese New Year dragon, spring rolls, tofu, and The Great Wall of China (one of the world's largest manmade structures that can be seen from space! It is also one of the seven wonders of the modern world.)
Bonjour from France: croissants, baguettes, Tour de France bicycle race, "Frere Jacques" song, and the Eiffel Tower (the tallest structure monument in Paris where can climb 1,665 steps to get to the top!)
Echo-sing each foreign word three times, as in the song: hola, ciao, ni hao, and bonjour
Listen to the song and join in on the echos.
Sing the entire song together. Make sure everyone is comfortable with the new ways to sing "hello."
World Tour: Divide into four groups. Sit in four "countries" (Mexico, Italy, China and France) around the room. Give the pictures of each region to each group.
Choose some volunteers to "tour" the world while singing "Say Hello Wherever You Go."
When the name of the country is sung, the volunteers will stop at that country to sing. (For example, So when I get to Mexico.)
The volunteers will sing the leader's part, while the country's group would sing the echo. (For example, the volunteers will sing hola , then Mexico will echo hola.)
Continue on the "world tour" until all the countries have been visited.
Solo game: Stand in a circle. Choose one volunteer to be the leader.
As the song is sung, the leader will walk around the inside of the circle.
When the name of the country is sung, the leader will stop and face one person. (For example, So when I get to Mexico.)
The leader will sing the solo word and the person will echo the solo word. (For example, the leader will sing hola as a solo, then the person will echo hola as a solo.) Strive for a high, light solo voice.
The person who was the echo now gets to be the new leader.
Note: if someone does not want to sing a solo, pause the music and choose a new volunteer.
