Play “Hurry Hurry Christmas Day” for students and invite them to keep a beat on their lap while they listen.
ASK How did the beat change in the middle of the song? (slower)
Play the song again and this time invite them to move to the beat.
ASK When do you hear the song become soft, during the fast section or the slow section? (Slow)
Invite students to give suggestions for movements during the song that show both loud & fast and soft & slow in the two sections (example: march and tiptoe).
Direct students to use their suggested movements while the song plays. Invite them to sing along while they move.
