Review with students that in music harmony is two or more pitches played or sung at the same time. SEL CONNECTION — ASK what do you think harmony means in life?
Play "Holiday Harmony" and invite the students to listen for harmony in the vocal parts. Instruct the students to give a silent thumbs up when they hear harmony.
Introduce the 3/4 time signature explaining there are 3 beats in each measure and the quarter note receives the beat. Prompt students to echo the 3-beat body percussion — lap, clap, clap. Play the song again while students perform the body percussion.
Teach students the harmony parts.
